Underfunding College Opportunity Constricts Jobs and New Jersey’s Economy

Although the economy is recovering slowly, the state is likely to continue to face revenue shortfalls in the billions.  This places significant pressure on state leaders to cut spending on higher education once more.  This would mean that more New Jersey students are turned away or forced to go out of state; facilities that are more crowded; and, a continuing shift of the cost of paying for college to students.  If the past decade provides any indication of the future, our state colleges and universities will once again be on the defensive just to maintain current levels of quality and affordability.
